This financial year, Castlemaine Art Museum’s funding from Council was reduced from $100,000 to $30,000. That leaves a $70,000 gap in our budget, and despite our best efforts, we haven’t yet been able to close it. I’m asking for your help to do that.
Regional galleries have always done a lot with a little. Our team is small, our volunteers are generous, and every dollar is stretched as far as it will go. But it also means there’s very little room to absorb a loss like this. For a gallery our size, $70,000 doesn’t disappear into the margins. It lands on the exhibitions, the programs and the people that make CAM what it is.
Last year, more than a third of what kept CAM going came from donations. That means people like you aren’t on the edges of this place. You’re holding it up.
If you’d like to talk about a larger gift, a gift in memory of someone, or giving through a trust or foundation, I’d love to hear from you personally. You can reach me at lg@castlemaineartmuseum.org.au
Donations are tax-deductible.
With thanks,
Leslie Gurusinghe
